A few clear ground rules.

Using Cogni

Cogni is a personal capture and organization app operated by Shrey Patel. Don’t use the service unlawfully, access another person’s account, or attempt to bypass usage or payment controls.

Local storage and backups

Your library is stored on your device, for both Free and Pro. Cogni does not automatically back up or sync your library between devices. Signing in or restoring a subscription does not restore notes. Keep an export of anything important before changing devices or removing the app. JSON exports do not include attachment or recording files; save those files separately.

Your content

You retain your rights to the content you add. You authorize the processing needed for the features you choose, including optional connected AI. You’re responsible for having the rights to any third-party material you upload or process.

Free and Pro

Free includes text/link capture, Inbox, basic search, and access to your existing content. Advanced features require a verified Pro entitlement. The Apple purchase sheet shows the localized total, billing period, and any eligible offer before you confirm — no free trial is promised on this website.

Apple subscriptions

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through Apple before renewal. Manage them in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Cogni. To restore an eligible existing purchase, sign in to your Cogni account and use Restore purchases on the Cogni Pro screen with the Apple account that made the purchase. Deleting the app or your Cogni account does not itself cancel an Apple subscription. Refund requests go through Apple’s refund process, subject to applicable consumer rights.

After Pro ends

Existing entries remain available to read, edit, delete, and export. Advanced Pro tools become unavailable until you resubscribe. Keep backups of anything you rely on.

AI and the Brain visualization

Assist is optional. Review the selected excerpts and confirm sharing for each request before sending them and your question through Supabase to OpenAI. Consent for a request does not enable automatic library sync. Processing and retention are described in the Privacy Policy. AI use is subject to usage limits; Pro does not promise unlimited AI requests.

AI output can be inaccurate — review suggestions and sources before acting on them. The Brain artwork and its neighborhoods are organizational illustrations, not a brain scan or a measurement of mental health. Cogni does not diagnose, treat, or guarantee improved cognition, productivity, or wellbeing.

Termination

You can stop using Cogni and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account. Follow the confirmation steps while signed in. Account deletion leaves local notes on your device and does not cancel an Apple subscription; local-note deletion and subscription cancellation are separate actions. We may suspend or terminate access for use that violates these terms, with notice where practical.

Disclaimers and liability

Cogni is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and aren’t liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing here excludes consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date, and where required, flagged in the app before they take effect.
